About TNR

What is TNR?

TNR is Trap Neuter Release is the process for fixing, spay/neuter, outdoor, free roaming, feral or community cats and kittens. These are cats that have been born and lived outside their entire life. They continue to reproduce and have homeless kittens that will continue this cycle. With TNR, we can break the reproduction cycle and reduce the homeless kitten and cat population as well as create a happier and healthier cat colony for these outdoor cats. They are perfectly happy being outside and with the help of care takers who feed them every day and provide a shelter for inclement weather these cats do very well.

There is a universal sign that a cat has been TNR’d, their left ear is tipped, a sign they have been fixed! TNR is also sometimes called: SNR – Shelter Neuter Release or TNVR – Trap Neuter Vaccinate Release. Cat’s can have kittens 3 times a year and as early as 5 or 6 months old. You can make a difference in the homeless cat and kitten population with every cat you TNR! Please volunteer and help us SpayDetroit!
